We offer advanced CT scan services to help uncover what’s happening inside your body, quickly, accurately, and with as little stress as possible. Whether your doctor needs to rule out an internal injury, detect early signs of disease, or monitor ongoing treatment, our radiologists in Varanasi and imaging specialists use state-of-the-art CT technology to provide detailed answers. We know scans can feel unfamiliar, so we take the time to explain the process, answer your concerns, and make you feel fully supported from start to finish.

What Is a CT Scan?

A CT scan (short for computed tomography) is an advanced imaging test that uses X‑rays and a computer to create detailed pictures of your bones, organs and soft tissues. Instead of taking a single 2D picture, the scanner rotates around you and captures many “slices” of your body. When these slices are digitally stacked, they form a 3D image that gives doctors much more information than a standard X‑ray. CT scans are painless and non‑invasive, you simply lie on a table that moves through a donut‑shaped machine.

What Are CT Scan Procedures?

Our CT scan machine can perform a variety of studies depending on what your doctor needs to see. Common applications include:

  • Checking for internal injuries, tumors and infections: CT can reveal bone fractures, tumors and signs of disease in the brain, lungs, liver, kidneys and other organs.
  • Heart and vascular imaging: A CT of the heart can help diagnose heart disease or assess blood vessels for blockages.
  • Guiding treatments: Doctors often use CT scans to plan or monitor therapies, such as surgery or radiation.
  • Evaluating complex bone conditions: CT provides detailed views of complicated fractures or joint problems that might not show up clearly on regular X‑rays.

Many scans use contrast dye to make certain tissues or blood vessels stand out. If your exam requires contrast, we’ll let you know ahead of time and explain how it’s administered and cleared from your body.

When You Need a CT Scan?

Our medics may recommend a CT scan if you’re experiencing:

  • Persistent or unexplained symptoms such as severe headaches, abdominal pain, chest tightness or breathing difficulties.
  • Results from other tests (like blood work, ultrasound or X‑rays) that suggest something isn’t clear.
  • Suspected conditions such as tumors, internal bleeding or bone fractures after an accident.
  • A need to monitor known conditions, CT scans can show if a disease is improving or progressing.
  • Evaluation of congenital anomalies or heart and vascular issues.

Our radiologists will review your medical history and symptoms to determine if CT imaging is appropriate. If a scan isn’t necessary, we’ll explain why and suggest alternative tests.

Is a CT scan safe?

CT scans do expose you to ionizing radiation, but the amount is generally small. The benefits of diagnosing or ruling out serious conditions typically outweigh the risks. Our equipment uses dose‑reduction techniques, and we adjust settings for children or smaller adults to minimise exposure.

We’ll give you specific instructions based on the part of your body being scanned. In general, wear comfortable, loose‑fitting clothing and remove any metal jewellery or belts. If contrast is needed, we may ask you to fast for a few hours and drink plenty of water afterwards to flush the dye from your system.

A CT scan itself is painless. You lie still on a table that moves through the scanner. If contrast dye is injected, you might feel a warm sensation or a metallic taste, but this usually fades quickly.

Most CT scans are completed within a few minutes, though preparation and post‑scan monitoring may add a little extra time. You can expect to be at the imaging centre for about an hour.
